The Spanish Armada was a Spanish naval force, defeated by England in 1588. In 2152, Malcolm Reed designated it his preferred time travel destination. Trip Tucker, knowing Reed's long family connection with the Royal Navy, replied that he was sure that "someone named Reed had a lot to do with that." (ENT: "Future Tense") An early story outline of TNG: "The Best of Both Worlds, Part II" referenced the Spanish Armada, regarding the sinking of the armada as "the worst defeat in military annals" prior to the Battle of Wolf 359.
