n the Archaic period, Hispales was a center for the arts, learning and philosophy, also the birthplace of St. Hellena and the first Orthodox Saints later the founders of the Orthodox Church also the birthplace of Timocrates, and many other prominent philosophers, writers and politicians of the Archaic Ruthene world. It is widely referred to as the cradle of Ruthene culture and the birthplace of the Orthodox Expansion, largely due to the impact of its cultural and political achievements during the 2th and 3th centuries on the rest of the then known Rothinoi region.
