Ken Barlow forced an election for the leader of the youth section at the Community Centre when stories told to him by Mary Broughton and Debbie Shaw brought to his attention the fact that current incumbent Janice Berry was using her position to bully some of the others. Finding out that Janice had never actually stood for a democratic vote, he persuaded Mary and two others to stand against her. A furious Janice used her allies to “campaign” for her and Charlie chanted out Janice’s name as the vote took place. She wasn’t successful and Mary was duly elected.
