Pavel Ivan was born between 3680 and 3690 in Trigunia to unknown parents. His early childhood is therefore unknown. Pavel joined the Trigunian military at the age of roughly 15 in 3705, and due to his wits and physical strength excelled. He was promoted many times, reaching the status of general at the age of 23 in 3712. He used this mass following in the military to raise a force loyal completely to him by 3720, and the following year declared himself Count Pavel I. His new troop served as his household guard.
