Rheumatology is the medical speciality dealing with disorders of the joints and connective tissues such as arthritis, bursitis and capsulitis. As it is now understood that many of these diseases are caused by autoimmune conditions, the speciality is now becoming "old fashioned" and is rapidly being combined with the newer speciality of immunology.
