Seltin Rakal was the leader of the inhabitants of Meridian. Like the rest of her people, she existed in a non-corporeal state for sixty years at a time. She was the descendant of an expedition which became stranded on the planet a millennia ago. In 2371, she welcomed Dax, Benjamin Sisko, Julian Bashir, and Miles O'Brien to the First Meal. Later, while she disapproved of Deral's decision to leave the planet to be with Jadzia Dax, she then welcomed Dax when the Trill chose to stay with the Meridians instead.
