Energon shards are items Transformers can collect, typically falling from the killed bodies of other Transformers. Energon shards power up certain abilties each class uses. The shards glow in a bluish color with tiny sparkles of white that float around when an enemy dies. In campaign or escalation, orange cylinders near the walls or in corners contain energon shards in them, which can be retrived by destroying the containers. However, no shards can be found in Multiplayer, as all abilities cool down and recharge over time. These shards seem to be different from Energon Cubes, as while Cubes replenish energy for a Transformer, Shards restore abilities.
