It was named in honor of Tommy Turtle, when he willingly sacrificed himself whilst being used as a vessel for Eggman's rogue computer virus, A.D.A.M., when he briefly regained control of his body and allowed himself to be destroyed by the Egg Fleet. (StH #169, #175, #205)
