In a brief flashback, Kougetsu is seen with his shirt off, his body is completely covered in scratches and stitches. He comments that his body has become so hard it requires special kenjutsu such as lighting imbued blades to impale him, which in turn implies every scratch made upon his body were from kunai, shuriken, and swords but they couldn't peirce through his body.
