Meridian was a planet in the vicinity of the Federation's space in the 23rd century. This world was home to the unique animal lifeform, the Meridian housecat. (TOS novel: Prime Directive) The novel does not explicitly place this planet in the Alpha Quadrant, but is identified as such here to differentiate it from the Gamma Quadrant world in the DS9 episode: "Meridian".
