Gregory Volkov was an expert international Russian criminal and most feared KGB operative. During a mission, Castle's dad, known under the alias Jackson Hunt, ended up killing his wife twelve years earlier. Volkov went after Hunt but was captured and thrown into a Chechen prison. After escaping from prison, he sought revenge on Jackson Hunt and orchestrated an elaborate kidnapping of Jackson Hunt's granddaughter, Alexis Castle.
