Malek Carp was, according to historians, a powerful Jedi Master and a great friend to Sebarian Forn. Malek and his apprentice, Reeth Tal, went on numerous missions together, up until the day that Reeth was killed on Raxus Prime. Sebarian and Malek became friends later on, but their friendship only lasted for a few years. After Malek banned Sebarian, Sebarian turned to the dark side and became Darth Hoka. He caught up to Malek, and had his revenge by bringing his lightsaber to his neck.
