Scott Washington was a guard assigned to provide security for scientists who condcuted cruel experiments on the Agony, Lasher, Riot (Symbiote) (Earth-616), and Phage symbiotes. When the four symbiotes combined themselves to survive, they became one new Hybrid symbiote. The newly created symbiote broke free and possessed Scott, sharing the pain and fear of the four symbiotes. Overcome with grief he helped the Hybrid symbiote escape. Later, when Scott was shot and paralyzed, the Hybrid symbiote returned to pay back his kindness y bonding with him and returning his ability to walk. realizing the powers he now possessed as a symbiote host, Scott became the vigilante known as Hybrid.
