Clancy Pembroke is the snobbish, if somewhat cowardly, curator of Marleybone's Royal Museum, where the Sarcophagus of the Souls, containing the Krokonomicon, is placed at the beginning of the storyline. The player goes to the Museum to inspect the Krokonomicon but, because the book is still being prepared for display, is refused by Pembroke, who states that the player must make something of his/herself in Marleybone first, beginning his/her adventures in the world.
