Thrawn knew that the clone order must be kept secret and immediately ordered his ships to attack the Republic craft. A CR90 corvette was quickly destroyed, while the remaining ships proceeded to attack the Chimaera so that they could escape. Swarms of TIE/ln starfighters destroyed the T-65B X-wings escorting the capital ships, and the Star Destroyer bombed the rest with volleys of turbolaser shots and ion cannon projectiles. Three corvettes and the frigate were blown up, but one CR90 escaped by speeding over the Chimaera's bridge and jumping into hyperspace.
