The Silver King is a (genuine) 1882 melodramatic play that brought success to playwright, Henry Arthur Jones. In the story In Memoriam, it was being performed at the Standard Theatre before the performance of The King In Yellow. The significance of the similarity in titles, if any, is unknown. Given that In Memoriam is a sequel to The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, it may be relevant that Wilde once said that "There are three rules for writing plays : The first rule is not to write like Henry Arthur Jones; the second and third rules are the same."
