The Symphysodon Discus species Symphysodon currently includes four subspecies: * Symphysodon discus aequifasciata (Green Discus) * Symphysodon discus haraldi (Blue discus) * Symphysodon discus axelrodi (Brown Discus) * Symphysodon discus heckeli (Heckel Discus) There is disagreement on the taxonomy. Commonly Symphyson aequifasciata and Symphyson discus is accepted as species, but recent studies shows they share the same genes which suggest, they belong to the same species.[1]
