The Bank of Noble City was founded on June of 1889 by two investors, Sir George Coningham and William Towning. It began issuing notes in 1891. When The Exchange Bank, also of Noble City, failed in 1893 many expected the same fate for this bank. When that did not happen many people soon turned to invest in it. By the 1920s it was one of the largest banks in Lovia, along with the Bank of Newhaven and the First National Bank. In 1926 one of the bank's armored cars was robbed and $200,000 was stolen. When the stock market crashed in 1929 there was a run at the bank; the bank's owners didn't have enough money to pay customers so they took as much cash as possible and fled to Germany.
