Saavik requested command of a warship at the start of the Dominion War in 2373, and was given the Alliance. Over the next two years of the war, the Alliance successfully participated in many battles, and survived with the loss of only a handful of her crew. In 2377, the Alliance was in Earth orbit and left to gather a fleet to help stop the Watraii. The Alliance and the fleet encountered the Watraii Fleet and a Romulan Fleet. The Alliance attempted to make peace between the two fleets, but failed. (TOS - Vulcan's Soul novel: Exodus)
