In August 2007, the Australian government launched Netalert, an Internet safety initiative, combined an Internet safety information campaign, a National Filter Scheme to provide free access to an Internet content filter to help block unwanted content, and a website and hotline to provide advice about protecting children online, as well as access to the free filters, and information about how they work.
