Joe Lannon is a political advisor to Senator Ed Hill. He has spent much of his career helping the senator and is concerned that the senator's passion for flying is jeopardizing his political future. In Pilot Error he goes so far as to try to kill Steve or leave him behind in the desert to keep him from testifying against the senator at a board of inquiry.
