He wrote, directed, and provided a voice for the pioneering fanfilm TROOPS. He was later hired by Dark Horse to pen several comics, including the Tag and Bink series and several stories for Star Wars Tales. Rubio also wrote a number of humorous character interviews for Star Wars Insider. More recently, Rubio wrote an episode of Star Wars: The Clone Wars called "Bombad Jedi".
