The M1 was a mine that was used by the United States during World War II. It had a total weight of 4.9 kg and a 203mm diameter. Since it was designed as an anti-tank mine, it required a minimum weight of 120 kg on top of the ring fuse in order for the shear pin to be broken, releasing the striker into the activating mechanism. Around 2 kg of the mine itself was TNT explosive. Because of the design of the mine, most were fitted with anti-handling devices so that they could not be disabled.
