They are notable for for revolutionizing the toy industry in the use of die cast metal for their robot toys with the Chogokin line, some of which were Super Sentai Robos. In 1983, the company merged back into its parent company and then dissolved in 1987 due to corporate restructuring. While the company brand briefly revived in-name only in the 2000s, it finally folded back and dissolved fully into Bandai in 2007 due to further restructuring during its merger with Namco. Popy's sole surviving division is PLEX, which now plans toys and characters under Bandai Namco Group LTD.
