Genetic versioning is a concept that has only been confirmed to have existed in the novels. It is the term given for when the genome of InGen's cloned dinosaurs and Cearadactylus are modified to remove glitches in their DNA, essentially like updating a software program, and each "updated" species is given a version number, such as 3.1 or 4.3.
