Jonathan I of Conté was a King of Tortall in the 100s HE presumably after Baird III of Tortall. He is the first ruler of House Conté and is the common ancestor of the Conté family of the 400s HE, the Naxen family, and the Trebond family. He wrote the Scroll of Salute and named the Naxen family, the haMinch family, the Legann family, and the Queenscove family to be the Shield of Tortall. He was mentioned very briefly, almost in passing, by Nealan of Queenscove in First Test. He never appears in any of the books.
