Steady State was a recording studio and rehearsal room, situated on St . Benedicts street at one end of the Indoor Marke building, the studio was well used throughout the late 1980s and early 1990s. The front part of the building was demolished and is now retail units, flats and houses. The studio itself was in a separate building at the back of the site, and still exists today. It was taken over by Jyoti Mishra in the mid 90s, after he'd had a number one hit with "Your Woman", under the name "White Town". After a few years Jyoti moved, and the studio became Inner Space, which operates as a hall-for-hire, for Yoga, meditation, salsa dancing, and various other classes.
