Maria Rivera is the wife of Metro-Dade Detective Eddie Rivera. She was working as a waitress at an unspecified "greasy spoon" restaurant and was pregnant with their first child when her husband was killed by a car bomb meant for Corky Fowler on the orders of the drug lord Calderone. James "Sonny" Crockett, Rivera's partner, informed her of her husband's death and broke down in Crockett's arms. Nothing more was heard about Maria or the unborn child.
