They can, but you don't have to tell them if you don't want to. Like the above statement. I honestly believe that religion should never be brought to the workplace. It should be the employer's right to refuse to hire someone who might refuse to perform correctly in the work field, due to their religious beliefs. Pity there is a law against it. If an employer can speak, the odds are they can ask the question. But the person asking whether they could probably meant can a boss or may a boss ask about one of his or her employee's religion legally.
