Sukesada was a swordsmith signature used by several smiths from the later part of the Muromachi period (1392-1573) through the first third of the Edo period (1600-1867).Sukesada Yosozaemon is most one of the foremost figures in this style of smithing and is one of 16 smiths to receive the title of Sai-jo O-wazamono or "supreme sharpness" for his blades. Yosozaemon is famous for a hamon (the design of the tempered edge of the sword blade.) which he invented called kani-no-sume or kani-no-hasami (crab claw) as it looks like the pincers of a crab.
