The 2007 ICC World Cup took place in the West Indies from March 13 to April 28, 2007, and was a one-day International tournament. There a total of 51 matches played, three fewer than at the 2003 World Cup. The sixteen competing teams were divided into four pools, with the two leading performers from each group moving on to the "Super 8's". From this stage, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Sri Lanka qualified for the semi finals, leading to Australia beating Sri Lanka in the final.
