The First Declaration from the Lacandon Jungle was the first declaration made by the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN) since their formation in November 1983. Issued on 1 January 1994, it marked the beginning of the War of National Liberation and the Gran Lucha (English: "Great Struggle").
