The USS Ranger was a Federation Miranda-class starship in service to Starfleet in the 23rd century. While exploring the Janus Vortex alongside of the USS Enterprise-A, under Pavel Chekov, the Ranger became trapped in the unstable region and was at risk of being destroyed. Sending out a distress call, they were rescued by the crew of the USS Excelsior. (TOS video game: Shattered Universe)
