He then took a position as the director of figure skating at the University of Denver. He later coached and taught at ice arenas in the Colorado Springs, CO area (Alpine and South Suburban) with his wife. Their students included Charles Tickner. Wally also served as president of the Professional Skaters Association, of which he was an honorary member. He is credited with the first Professional Skaters Association Training Video, published in 1965. This silent black and white film was intended to help judges identify jumps in competition. He died in 2001 of emphysema at age 79.
