Goran, later a crewmember of the IKS Gorkon, served on the Ki'tang during its service fighting on the side of the Federation Alliance in the conflict with the Dominion. In late 2375, the Ki'tang was part of a Federation Alliance assault fleet that travelled to the Chin'toka system to stop the Dominion and the Breen from retaking it. Just prior to the battle, the Ki'tang chief engineer ordered modifications to its tritium intermix, as the ships's warp core was suffering a containment problem. The changes the engineers made proved to be crucial to the course of the war, as the Ki'tang was the only ship to survive the devastating Breen energy dissipators. General Martok later ordered the modifications to be made to all of the ships in the Klingon Defense Force.
