The Sixty-Year Chasm was a fissure in the Shadowlands where Hida Renchi, a minor daimyo, ordered all people over age sixty be thrown into this chasm. Oni used to impersonate elders, and Renchi expected to eliminate that trick, and rid his lands of the burden of hundreds of people too old to fight. Renchi was proved to be a fool and committed seppuku.
