Otomo Yurikan was Hantei XVI's younger brother, and sibling, a full decade younger than the Emperor. He was fostered to the Phoenix when Hantei XVI took power, and was trained in the Asako Loremaster school. In 609 he died when the library in which he was studying burned to the ground. The accident had been ordered by his brother the Steel Chrysanthemum.
