The unnamed mother of Ringo Akai and Mashio Akai has been mentioned in the Tokyo Mew Mew PS1 game, Tokyo Mew Mew - Tojo Shin Mew Mew! - Minna Issho Ni Gohoshi Suru Nyan. She died before the start of the game, so her son Mashio has to look after Ringo, who is only 10 years old. Her daughter Ringo owns a pet penguin named Yuki. Mrs. Akai owned a nature reserve island where she lived with her children.
