Gima is a servant of Arkan, the winterking, who looks after Maerad when she is trapped in the winterking's ice palace in Zmarkan. Gima is made to believe, through illusions, that hundreds of people live in the ice palace, while in fact it is just her and the winterking. She serves the winterking loyally, but is kind to Maerad.
