The Scoundrel were originally a group of robbers. They were recruited by Halbarad and Aragorn in TA 2980 to join the Grey Company as rangers. Later,these 16 rangers were collectively called as "The Scoundrel" although they were no longer a robber. "The Scoundrel" consists of 16 Northern Rangers. During the War of the Ring, 800 more unnamed ranger was recuited to the team.
