The Darwine project started as a port of Wine to PowerPC Macs. On PowerPC Macs, Darwine was never able to run native Windows applications. Instead, it allowed programs to be compiled with Winelib, so that they would run the same as a native Windows application. Darwine was eventually ported to x86-based Macs and fully integrated into the main Wine tree. As a result, there is no longer a separate Darwine project. Applications that run with Wine on Linux should also run on OS X, excluding any Mac-specific bugs, such as in SDL, occurring.
