The Velarswood still takes its name from a human warrior who was instrumental in the battles against orcs in the Year of the Vanquished Foe (339 DR). His people resettled the land around the coastal forest, and managed good relations with the elves of Cormanthor until Halvan the Dark ordered the construction of Halfaxe's Trail through the forest to meet the Moonsea Ride (perhaps in 1001 DR).
