Syr'ei was a female Tantaari and the cousin of Aria Nikina, Queen of Daispin. Syr'ei and Aria became close after the battle in which Aria overthrew her father and seized the throne, and Syr'ei was appointed one of her cousin's ministers of state. When Daispin joined the Golden Empire in 138 ABY and Aria became a Centurion of the Order of Keltrayu, Syr'ei became Regent of Daispin, ruling the planet on Aria's behalf. She continued her cousin's efforts to achieve social and political equality between Tantaari and Humans.
