Matt Burch was the creator of the original Escape Velocity. He did the coding for Escape Velocity Override and Escape Velocity Nova. Presently, Matt Burch owns rights to the EV engine and has no future plans of making another Escape Velocity or selling the engine. Matt's ship description is "31337". When hailed, Matt replies with; "I think I took a wrong turn at Palshife..." He appears in EV Nova flying a Kestrel. Along with Jason Cook, he is one of the only përs in the game who has an invincible ship.
