[Source] The R-88 Suppressor riot rifle was a medium-size blaster rifle manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. during the time of the Galactic Republic, Galactic Empire, and New Republic and used to put down riots and insurrections on Coruscant. The R-88 was used by the Coruscant Security Force during the Old Republic, Empire, and New Republic days, but it was more popular with the Coruscant Guards who used it frequently during the Imperial era.
