The mission of Biosurveillance Coordination is to coordinate the development and support the implementation of an integrated, national biosurveillance plan for human health. The plan, a requirement outlined in Homeland Security Presidential Directive 21, includes the capacity to generate timely, comprehensive, and accessible information with proper context for public health decision making. Biosurveillance Coordination has developed the National Biosurveillance Strategy for Human Health and a companion document titled Concept Plan for Implementation of the National Biosurveillance Strategy for Human Health.
