The EAS Ares was an Earthforce vessel in service prior to the Dilgar War. The Ares was caught in a civil war between two midrange colonies, when the Ares was shot down and captured by one of the opposing forces. After two months, Earth forces were able to rescue the crew of the Ares, but there was only three survivors, including Richard Franklin, who was saved by the base's doctor despite the objections of his CO.
