Hockey Quebec uses a concept called the Fair Play Point which is used to give teams points in the standings for not getting excessive amounts of penalties. (For a more detailed explanation of the thresholds, please see the Fair Play Point page). This concept is also used to a lesser extent in high school hockey in the U.S. states of Minnesota and Pennsylvania. Some leagues also use what is called a league point. This is a point given to each team for actually playing the game. It is an incentive to not forfeit a game.
