Professor L. Petrie is the main character of The Phantom of the Opera (1962 film). Loosely based on Erik from Gaston's Leroux 1910 novel The Phantom of the Opera, this Phantom also has similiarities with the Lon Chaney rendition as well as the Claude Rains rendition. So the "Erik" character in this movie and of course the movie itself differs much from the book.
