Initially Special tricks were signature tricks, unique to the specific skater (i.e. Tony Hawk's The 900 or Rodney Mullen's Darkslide). As the series evolved, new fictional tricks were appearing, becoming more insane with each iteration. Since THPS4 special tricks could involve additional objects like Steve Caballero's Faction Guitar Slide.
